18 workdays til vacation!

We decided to count workdays because it makes it sound smaller - plus our non-workdays are always flying by anyways.

So until the beach, I have: 6 yoga classes, 6 trips to the gym, 4 bible studies, 2 volunteer sessions, 1 trip to SC, 2 budgeting sessions (one yay, one meh), 3 birthdays, 1 baseball game, and possibly 1 trip to mom and dad's (depending on when Daniel gets home). Whew!

Eric and Emily came over to hang out last night - we got takeout from CPK and played Puerto Rico (I lost). We had lunch with them at Chili's after church, which is where we had lunch with them the very first time shortly after they started coming to our church...sniff. Emily and I both managed not to cry :-) We'll see them in August when they're in DC for a conference, and we've already marked to calendar to go to WV in October.

I have quite a bit of leftovers for upcoming meals - pesto penne from CPK, and a mini burger and southwestern eggroll from Chili's.

Think I'll go read for a bit and then maybe do some sun salutations. I wanted to swim today, but it's cloudy and only 71 degrees. I'm trying to resist the call of the nap though!

(Update: I did read, and I did resist the nap. I did not, however, do any yoga because I spent over an hour trying to help Matt with some stupid puzzle in Myst that it turns out you have to cheat to solve.)

Who broke the traffic???

Traffic incidents:
I-95 southbound - closed at rt. 212 due to a truck fire
Inner loop at rt. 50 - two (previously three) left lanes closed
Inner loop at New Hampshire - (previously) three lanes closed
I-66 - (previously) closed westbound due to a car fire

And of course the metro red line accident north of Fort Totten.
Which has caused:
New Hampshire Ave - closed in the district for medivac response
Brunswick MARC line closures due to fire and rescue response

Matt just got home - glad we just decided to go to dinner whenever instead of making a reservation.

Happy 6th anniversary, luv!

Two weeks worth of goings on

I'm going to take Carly's tactic and just make a list :-D So what have I been up to lately?

- Went to ladies night with Carly and Emily at the Melting Pot - Yum! This time we got the Wisconsin trio cheese fondue, caesar salads all around, the mojito cooking style with the plate entree, and the classic (milk chocolate with crunchy peanut butter) fondue. Yum!

- Got some new running shoes and got a run on the board for June. Convenient that the moderator of the group didn't start it til the 8th this month and I had already run twice! I'll be able to get in two more runs this week though.

- Sunday school class threw a baby shower/breakfast for Eric and Emily. I got them two cute little outfits for Owen...and then forgot the card. At least I remembered the Krispy Kreme donuts.

- Had a great vinyasa yoga practice on Friday. I don't usually sweat much, but I was very sweaty by the end. I'll be getting in three more practices (Wednesday, Friday and the following Tuesday) before the end of the month, since I'll be gone for a third of July. I had tried the lunchtime class a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it as well.

- We went to my 10 year HS reunion the weekend before last, and then had lunch at O'Charleys with Robyn, Derrick, Martha and Eric. Traffic was a nightmare getting down to Fredericksburg on Friday - the whole trip took 3 hours 10 minutes. Coming back was much better.

- Went to a cookout at Rhoda's with some former labmates. It was good to see everyone and the food was yummy as usual. We ended up in a huge backup when I-695 was closed, and actually passed Whei and Russ in the lane next to us. They followed us (with our GPS set on detour) around the backup to I-70.

- Had a fantastic dinner at the Chart House last night with Jim (in celebration of his new job!), Phil, Lisa, and Darius. The food was spectacular, the service was great, and there were even fireworks.

- Went to mom and dad's for Fathers' Day dinner after church today. Dad's still hanging on pretty much the same as usual. We brought them a new CPU to replace the one that died during one of the hundred thunderstorms we've had all month.

So now, what's coming up?

- 6-year anniversary tomorrow! We're going to Bonefish Grill in Kentlands.

- One more weekend to hang out with Eric and Emily before they move - They're coming over for dinner and games on Saturday, and then we're going to lunch after church on Sunday.

- We're going to SC on the 1st for Fourth of July weekend. Should be great fun!

- Going to a Nats game on the 25th of July!

So basically other than my usual work, church activities, and volunteering (and sleep), I've basically spent the last two weeks eating and working out :-)

Only 34 days until vacation!! And 36 days til my spa trip in the Outer Banks (facial, massage, and pedicure - yum!)

Blog!

I seem to have been reduced to once-a-week blogging lately. Well I'm still doing better than Matt! I should be nice to him though, because he's putting more RAM in my lappy tomorow night :-D

Long, rainy week last week. I was very glad to get to Friday. Went to the gentle yoga class at 4:30 so I'd be home in time for us to go to First Friday Fellowship at church. We ended up playing Acquire with Eric and Emily, and Matt finally won. I got second, and Eric came from a rather broke position mid-game to take 3rd. Poor Emily.

I went to volunteering on Saturday morning, and have been working on a pathophysiology book. I wanted to go to the spa place in the mall to get a pedicure afterward, but when I called that morning the woman said "I had one appointment left that started 10 minutes ago..." Oh well. Maybe I'll try to go after church on Wednesday night. I ended up going out to pick up a few things at K-Mart and then to Panera Bread to get a toasted bagel and a yogurt parfait - yum! Then we went to a cookout for the choir at Alison and Oliver's place.

Went to church on Sunday, and then over to Noodles for lunch. We didn't think it would be warm enough to go for a swim (the water temp anyways), and my head was kind of hurting in the afternoon so I went to lie down for a while and ended up with a 2-hour nap. We had some ice cream cake when I woke up and then Matt then proceeded to school me in two games of Jambo (though the second was closer and I only lost by one point), we watched a few episodes of Upstairs Downstairs and ate dinner.

I ended up getting some money for graduation so after I set aside enough for our "celebration" expenses (meals, parking, etc) I ordered a few things from Old Navy (natch). I had been meaning to go to the store in Rockville for a while, but it just never seemed to work out.

I don't have any time to go to the gym this week :-/ Have bible study on Monday night, dinner with Emily and Carly at The Melting Pot Tuesday night, church Wednesday night and a meeting Thursday night. Then we're leaving Friday afternoon to go down to F'burg for my 10-year HS reunion! I suppose I might have some time to go to the gym on Saturday, depending on when we get back. And I suppose I could be a masochist and go to 7am yoga on Wednesday...

Only 48 days til beach vacation! I ordered the puzzles (we'll only do one at the beach, but it was only 99 cents more for shipping if I bought two). We couldn't get the Dali one anywhere (it's been "temporarily out of stock" since January) so we decided to go back to Van Gogh and got his other two nighttime scenes, "Cafe Terrace" and "Starry Night on the Rhone" - together with our framed puzzle of "Starry Night" I think it'll make quite a spectacular wall decoration.

Off to go straighten my hair and then get ready for bed!
