You win

Okay, Starbucks. Since you gave me a survey invitation to go online and answer questions about my visit this morning in exchange for a free beverage, I will give the new frappuccino one more try at some point in the near future. I did get a few tips from someone I know who works there (ask for double-blended, do NOT get skim milk). This is your last frapp shot though!

Now this is the definition of GIRL POWER: The Women's Gangs of India.

And this is the definition of cute: Kitten versus Pillow.

Definition of a donut-lover:
M: You didn't throw away that coupon over there, did you?
Me: The one for the two dozen donuts?
M: Yeah.
Me: When does one need two dozen donuts?
M: I think the question is, when does one NOT need two dozen donuts?

I wasn't planning on accruing any credit hours this pay period - we drove back from Chesapeake Beach Monday morning and I worked from home, and got in 5.5 hours. Given my usual schedule, and the fact that you have to get a minimum of 1 credit hour if you're accruing any in a pay period, I was figuring on breaking even right at 80 hours.

Then Thursday at 1pm, I got an urgent deadline for something that was needed at a 10am meeting Friday morning. I worked on it from 3:00-6:15pm, went to pilates class, came home, and finished it up from 8:15-11:00pm. As of tomorrow I'll be 2.25h ahead instead of behind.

I ate dinner at the dining room table tonight only because I was working through dinner. I found that rather ironic.

Matt and I watched 'The Nostradamus Effect' on the History Channel over the weekend. I posted on my FB status that we were having a party on December 21st, 2012 and everyone was invited :-)

BUT - my Google calendar goes on to 2013. And if anyone knew that the world was going to end, it would definitely be Google.

I more or less ate Krispy Kreme donuts for dinner, ugh.

Today is the anniversary of the Moon Landing. Today also would have been Dad's 52nd birthday - he turned 11 the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Happy anniversary, Moon.

I think I like these lyrics better for this week:

I've got my heart set on anywhere but here
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years

Steady hands, just take the wheel...
And every glance is killing me
Time to make one last appeal...
For the life I lead

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh

Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can you see what I see?

(I was very surprised to find out this was OneRepublic, because I HATED their first single...)

Bloggers block?

I opened up a new post window, intending to do something with Beck's 'Loser' lyrics (which I also listened to, a la Glee, on the way home tonight). And then I just stared at the big white box for a while. And then I deleted that post.

Another frustrating night. They seem to be coming more frequently.

You don't know anything

How does Facebook know so little about me? Today it recommended "Eclipse" and "I Like Being Black."

Just give me my iced coffee!

I stopped at the B&N Cafe after picking something up from Target. When I get to the register, the girl asks me "Welcome to Starbucks, can I get a Frappuccino started for you?" No thanks lady, I already fell for that once. I order a grande iced vanilla coffee. She says "You didn't want that as a blah blah blah vanilla frappuccino?" (She said some long name, I can't even remember the entirety of it). I said 'No thank you.' Next, it's "Would you like that as a venti, only 30 cents more?" Holy crap, the upsell. I just want a iced coffee, damnit!

And then I finally get my iced coffee, and the sleeve says "Next time, try the NEW however-you-want-it frappuccino." Well Starbucks, I'll tell you how-I-want-it: the old recipe.

Morning Person

I am only up at 5am (on purpose) approximately once a year. So it's not surprising that I missed the 3.6-magnitude earthquake that happened in Gaithersburg early this morning. The epicenter was less than 5 miles NW of our house. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. It couldn't have waited a couple hours until I woke up??

Once again I am relying on my Facebook Feed for current events, hah.

Got my cycling shoes (and pedals). Ended up keeping the pink and gray snorkeling gear; Amazon customer service told me they didn't actually have the pink and green one, but they gave me a 20% discount as compensation. It'll work.

Also got my Hoover Steam Vac carpet cleaner, and Urine-off for the carpet in the living room. Le sigh. Applied the first soaking (with a watering can; I don't know why I didn't think of this before!) and covered it with a tarp to let it really soak in. I saw Max checking out the new litter box this evening, but no one's 'gone' in it yet.

Matt got his snorkeling gear a few days ago, and a wedding present we ordered arrived recently as well. So as a result, we have about 8 boxes in various places around the house. Oy vey.

BodyPump tomorrow, bible study on Saturday, wedding at Chesapeake Beach on Sunday. Spinning class with the new cycling shoes on Tuesday!

We got our cruise stateroom assigned today! So very excited :-D We will be room #6220, on the front right side of the ship. Balcony, yay :-) We even got upgraded from "deluxe" to "supreme" which is an extra 14 sqft. We can book our shore excursions in about another month or so!

I got hot pink again :-(

Thanks, Amazon. Third time's the charm? Matt and I bet on whether it was the right color before I opened the box. He said yes, I said no. I opened it, and said "I win! Except I lose." Repeat of O.N.U.D. in 3..2...

Kitties still have not used the new litterbox. Thanks a lot, guys.

Q: Dear Miss Manners, Is it proper for a young lady to brush her teeth in the presence of a young man?
A: Only if an improper act preceded it.

I went to a church friend's mother-in-law's funeral visitation after work. I'm glad I ran when I got home, because it's raining now and it will probably rain for at least the next 48 hours. I'm not complaining too much, because we need the rain (and a break from the heat). It was actually fairly nice when I went running - humid, but cool. I apparently did not drink enough water throughout the day though, because I got a nasty side cramp during the last quarter mile of my run. I muscled my way through though.

My snorkeling gear was delivered today, but Amazon sent the wrong color :-( I had ordered it in 'Pearl Pink' which is a light pink and green combo, and instead I got it in 'Hot Pink' which is a bright pink and gray combo. I'm shipping it back as an exchange and hoping that it doesn't turn out to be like the Old Navy Underwear Debacle, where they sent me the wrong color three times (although the outside label was correct each time) and then finally admitted they didn't have it in the color shown on the website.

I believe we will break the $10K level in the house account before the end of the month. Not sure about the $25K for the year though...

My dress for next June

My sister's getting married and I'm wearing this dress next summer!

(It's a cute dress though - I'm not sure if I'm sad that I hadn't bought it yet or not.)

Dear Performance Bike

I am ashamed to admit, as a woman, that I have just bought my most expensive pair of shoes from you. Of all places. Though if you take into account the lovely 30% discount that you gave me, they are technically only my second most expensive pair of shoes...after my running shoes. Does this make me a tomboy?

PS - Thank you M for my early birthday present...again :-D

Dear Panera Bread

Why can I buy a half sandwich with a half salad, but I can't buy a whole sandwich with a half salad? Is it some kind of salad conspiracy? Now I have leftover salad.

It's the 5th of July

Feelin' independent / Please step aside / The celebration's over
- Eddie from Ohio

Spent the weekend in SC. Hung out with Matt's fam, went out to eat for his sister's birthday, got ice cream. Did a little yoga and slept in three mornings in a row. Saw Toy Story 3. I flew back this afternoon; Matt will be back Wednesday night.

When I got back I went to a yoga class and a BodyPump class. I filled the time in between walking on a treadmill. I liked the BodyPump class, but I definitely need to do it fresh.

Got takeout BBQ from Famous Dave's and watched two mediocre movies on Netflix streaming.

Short work week this week, and then a murder mystery party/margarita party at C&E's. I'm playing a hippie this time :-)
